This year, during the annual Carlson Leadership Academy, our chapter was awarded the Benjamin Hobson-Frayser award for excellence in communication. To be a re-established chapter, SigEp expects high academic standards, campus involvement, and commitment to the local community. Some of California Mu's most recent successes involve the re-chartering of our chapter here at Cal Poly Pomona. During this time, the chapter also earned their SigEp Learning Community accreditation, which is a distinction granted to only the highest performing chapters of Sigma Phi Epsilon.īelow are two images comparing the size of Cal Mu from our first semester back in Fall 2019, all the way to our current semester, Spring 2023. By Spring 2021, the Cal Mu chapter built a 51-man chapter, the second largest among the seven fraternities at Cal Poly Pomona. Since the return of Cal Mu at Cal Poly Pomona in 2019, the chapter doubled in size over the course of a global pandemic through constant persistence and implementing a strong recruitment strategy. The current Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter at California Polytechnic State University of Pomona started in 2019. However, in 2009 the chapter was taken off of campus. The Cal Mu chapter has won a total of four Buchanan cups since its conception. We develop leadership, communications, academics, community service through the lifetime fraternal experience.” We improve the quality of our lives by improving the quality of the lives of others. Cal Mu did this by restructuring their Mission statement: It then won its first Buchanan cup that same year. After 10 years, Sigma Phi Epsilon won best Fraternity on campus with the largest rush class in 1987. In 1979, the Cal Mu chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded, making SigEp the first international fraternity on the Cal Poly Pomona campus. Since then 221 chapters have been founded, tying together the bonds of over 300,000 brothers nationwide. Back in 1901, 12 brothers founded the Fraternity based around these principles and a common purpose, stating that “this Fraternity will be different”. Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity was founded on the principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.
